Stanley Simplifies Home Improvement Projects With The FatMax® Stud Sensor 400
The Stanley Works is proud to introduce the new STANLEY® FatMax® Stud Sensor 400. The FatMax® Stud Sensor 400 is loaded with new features and advanced technologies like the patent pending OnePass™ stud center detection, auto depth selection, two types of AC wire detection and a convenient slide-out reference guide to make this the perfect layout device for any do-it-yourselfer.
The patent pending OnePass™ stud center detection technology found on FatMax® Stud Sensor 400 accurately locates the center of a wood or metal stud in one single pass. To help the user visualize the stud layout beneath the wall, Stanley has shaped the stud sensor to match (1.5 inches on the interior) the standard widths of a 2x4. This combination of both design and technology has simplified the process and eliminated the guesswork often associated with finding the center of a stud.
The auto depth selection found on the FatMax® Stud Sensor 400 is set at the highest sensitivity for stud detection, so it will penetrate concrete, lattice, drywall and other common wall materials up to 1-1/2” thick on its first pass. Once the depth is determined the stud sensor automatically recalibrates to the appropriate depth level to provide the user with the best stud center and edge detection accuracy. This universal functionality makes this stud sensor the ideal tool for both heavy-duty remodeling projects and basic home improvement tasks.
To help users prevent costly and dangerous accidents involving live electrical wires the FatMax® Stud Sensor 400 is equipped with AC detection and an AC tracker to alert and protect the user of any hidden hazards. These features allow users to visually scan and trace live electrical wires with an LCD screen, while audible indicators beep to safeguard users against drilling or hammering into live wires.
For additional convenience, Stanley has incorporated a slide-out quick reference guide that is stored in the unit. Included in the guide are how-to diagrams that outline the steps required to locate the center of a stud and track live AC wires.“The FatMax Stud Sensor 400 exemplifies our commitment to continually designing products that push the limits of design and functionality,” said Victoria Schmitz, commercialization manager, measuring and layout at The Stanley Works. “Creating a product that helps do-it-yourselfers visualize the layout behind the wall simplifies every project, while also protecting them from unforeseen hazards.”
The Stanley® FatMax® Stud Sensor 400 requires one 9-volt battery. It has a suggested retail price of $39.99 and is available at hardware stores and home centers wherever STANLEY® products are sold.
Along with the FatMax® Stud Sensor 400, Stanley is adding five new models to its family of stud sensors. The line starts with the basic Stanley® stud sensor (SKU 77-050) at $9.99 and continues on to the heavy duty FatMax® Stud Sensor 400.
